Village 2010

Village 2010As hard as it is to believe, the Antiochian Archdiocese has occupied the place we lovingly call "The Village" for over 25 years. It has become a home and sanctuary to all, earning its reputation as the jewel of our Archdiocese” since the first campers set foot on the grounds in 1979. As time passes and the Village family grows, however, we must constantly reevaluate the needs of the Village to ensure that it remains in top condition. The Antiochian Village 2010 Capital Campaign is a critical effort to protect the legacy of the Antiochian Village. Only with your help will this holy mountain continue to enrich the lives of everyone in our Archdiocese for generations to come.

The heritage of the Antiochian Village is rooted in its summer camping program. The Village welcomes almost 1000 campers, 60 staff members, as well as dozens of volunteers and other support staff during its eight-week summer camping season. Recently, an energized movement to expand Village programs beyond the summer months resulted in new programs to inspire our Archdiocese's families, couples, and priests. These programs, which include Winter Camp, Family Camp, and the recently launched Villedge Adventures, help cultivate the spiritual growth of all who visit the Village throughout the year.

Throughout this time of growth, the camp has had to make periodic additions to accommodate the growing numbers of campers and programs. Three years ago, the Village began a new phase of additions and renovations which resulted in the addition of the Metropolitan PHILIP Welcome Lodge, two Double Cabins, two Volunteer Cabins, the Maintenance Facility, a new water system and a refurbishing of the pool. While there has been significant progress made in bringing the facilities up to date, there is still much work to do.

The Antiochian Village 2010 Capital Campaign will enable the renovations that will serve as a stepping stone to a new chapter of life at the Village. In the following pages, the planned renovation projects are described in detail. Most of the renovations listed cannot be put off further than five years without jeopardizing our ability to provide a safe, comfortable and effective setting for the camping program.

A total of $3.7 million is required to complete the necessary renovations. Rising to such a challenges requires the assistance of all Archdiocese members. These renovations promise that the future of the Village will be a bright and blessed one, but only through your help can we reach our goal. We have the opportunity to greatly impact the future of our Archdiocese. This is both a responsibility and a privilege, and we look forward to your support in helping us continue Christ’s work through the legacy of the Antiochian Village.
