Spelunking at Laurel CavernsExtreme Villedge

This adventure will focus on outdoor activities and "extreme sports". After an evening of orientation, the trip will begin with a three-day hike through Forbes State Forest, approximately one hour from the Village. All food and equipment will be provided for each camper to carry in their packs along the 25 mile journey. The team will learn no-trace camping techniques as they stay in various locations along the trail.

After completing the three days of hiking, the group will put their backpacks down to go cave exploring in the Laurel Caverns. Campers must bring their own flashlights or headlamps, as they are led by a Laurel Cavern Guide 45 stories down into the Earth. Challenge yourself to new levels as your journey over rocks and through crevices to explore the beautiful Laurel Caverns.

After a campout that night in the Kentuck Campgrounds of Ohiopyle State Park, the next day will be a half day ride through the white water of the Youghiogheny River's Class II-III rapids. The group will then trade their rafts for mountain bikes, as they bike back the 7 miles along the river's bike trail returning to the Ohiopyle State Park area. The group will return to the Antiochian Village Friday evening.

Saturday will be spent on our Challenge Course with some team building challenges and individual climbing challeges. After a wrap-up on Saturday night the experience will end after Divine Liturgy and brunch on Sunday.

Former AV Staff will travel with the campers, supervise, and lead discussions and debriefing sessions throughout the week.
